Behind the scenes

Frequently asked
I've been working in the cast-iron boiler and hydronic heating field for over 28 years now — since 1998, when I started Boiler Professionals, Inc. My experience includes handling everything from routine maintenance to full system replacements for homes and small commercial buildings throughout the Chicago area.
Common issues I encounter include leaking pressure relief valves, failing circulator pumps, and problems with hydronic manifold balancing valves. These systems are built to last — but like any mechanical system, they can develop issues when exposed to the harsh winters we see here in Chicago. I've seen many older cast-iron units that just need a bit of attention rather than full replacement.
Yes, I provide a dedicated 24/7 emergency line specifically for urgent no-heat or no-cool situations. This is separate from my normal business hours, which are Monday through Friday, 7am to 5pm. When your home is cold in the middle of winter and your boiler isn't working, that's when you need fast help — and I make sure to be there.
For all new cast-iron boiler installations, I provide a standard 10-year parts and labor warranty. This includes replacement of key components like the boiler section, circulator pump, and pressure relief valve gauge — assuming normal usage and proper maintenance. If something happens within that time frame, I’ll come out and take care of it at no additional cost.
